TFO was represented on Monday 16 September 2013
at a side event at COP11 of UNCCD
in Windhoek, Namibia. The relevance of ‘The Future Okavango’ for the UN Convention to combat desertification was presented in the frame of a side event of the COP11 in Windhoek, Namibia. The side event attracted numerous participants and allowed a very fruitful discussion involving the auditorium and the panel members.

TFO was represented by a team of 20 TFO members at the LAMA status conference in Berlin from April 17 to 19 and presented the project to the more than 400 guests, representatives of the BMBF, the project management PT and other colleagues from both modules of the LAMA funding measure via a suit of presentations, posters and a market place. more

in Nairobi, Kenya, on 5-6 February 2013.

The Deutsche Welle, Germany’s international broadcaster, aimed at international markets, featured an article about TFO on October, 29. Interviews with TFO participants give insights into the work of the project, featuring amongst others Fernanda Lages, coordinator for Angola, and Manfred Finckh, member of subproject SP05. The book Knowledge lives in the lake. Case studies in environmental and customary law from southern Africa
was launched in Windhoek (30 August 2012) by its editors Manfred O. Hinz, Oliver C. Ruppel and C. Mapaure. It features the works of law students from the University of Namibia and focuses on various water related issues. more
TFO's hydrology team (subproject SP02) just conducted a capacity building workshop for university students and staff
of the Angolan Ministry for Energy and Water to introduce hydrological modeling. The workshop was held at Agostinho Neto University in Luanda

The prize will be awarded at the International Riversymposium, the world’s leading river management conference in Melbourne in October 2012.

Yesterday, the ARD programme "Tagesthemen" aired a broadcast on climate change and sustainable land use in Namibia and Botswana. The Future Okavango had been invited to present the project at the extraordinary meeting of Okavango Basin Steering Committee (OBSC) in Johannesburg on April 14th. A delegation of three TFO Project members, Prof. Dr. Wellington Masamba (ORI-Botswana), Dr. Patrick Klintenberg (DRFN-Namibia) and Dr. Thomas Falk (PUM Germany) travelled to Johannesburg and Prof. Masamba gave a 30 Minutes presentation and the participants then discussed project issues with OBSC.Information and minutes of the OBSC Meeting can be downloaded by project members internal area
